So on 24th September 2011 we had our Orientation at SEECS. Last year when i joined UET there was no Orientation , well maybe i missed it coz i joined a week late due to problems with hostel accommodations, so i was really looking forward to it . My sis who was in AMC said that her orientation day sucked. They had to sit outside in one of the grounds and just get there registration done
So i was confused . Will this be boring and the only thing em going for is to get my registration or will there actually be some more arranged for us . Since i had been suffering from minute Dengue Fever i was kinda weak and still recovering so that made me think twice of going to the orientation thinking will it be even worth it
Well gladly i chose to go. So i left home at around 8 and reached around 9 . We got our schedule and were directed to sit in a class . Where i met a couple of students who are going to be sharing the class with me for the next 4 years (if i dont fail :P ) . So here i was sitting in a air conditioned class which was slowly filling up . It was quite impressive , While we were seated a guy came up on the stage/platform and gave us a small presentation on SEECS and the Study Style of the University . With all due respect to him , he really needs to work on his communication skills , his Presentation was quite boring and his way of explaining wasn't the best. After that a Thin energetic guy sprung up to the stage and started his presentation on LMS . He seemed a lil hyperactive as he paced his way through a very informative presentation in less then 2 mins . His presentation could have been a whole lot better if he had taken a bit more time on it.
After this the process of registration started, Hostilities were proffered over Day Scholars since they also had to get their Hostel Registration done. So there i was sitting bored when another Representative came in and told us that they are going to be taking us for the tour of the School . So we formed 2 queues and followed 3 representatives as they took us around the school showing us every corner of it . It was a great experience seeing the well furnished and build campus . Centrally Air Conditioned , well kept , well maintained , as clean as it can get . I who had spent a year in UET was used to stairs that had stains of mud on em and walls that had gone from white to greyish black and generally buildings that seemed to lack care was quite happy to see such a well kept campus . There were plenty of labs which were locked at the moment , The library was large and beautifully decorated. Over all it was a campus where u wouldn't mind spending the rest of ur life.
After the tour ended we were once again taken to the class. Where we got our Library and ITC forms. I submitted my ITC form and got my Username and Password for LMS and SEECS Email account though after reaching home i tried logging into my LMS but it didnt work :S. After that we were taken to the seminar hall where we were Addressed by The Principal of Seecs Dr Arshad (A guy my Dad always speaks highly off) and the HOD of Computing Department who was a PHD and hardly seems to be in his early 30s . From what my dad told me he had completed his PHD by the age of 25 which is freaking amazing since em 19 and still doing my bachelors. It was around a 40 mins address and after it we were led to our classes again where the processes of registration continued. Since i had to leave ASAP coz my dad needed the car at home so i got my self registered. It was quiet amazing to see it hardly took them 5 mins to register me. After that i went out sat in my car and went home as my head started hurting during the way . i reached home crashed on my bed and slept for a good 3-4 hours.
Now this was the Small review of the events of the orientation . Personally i think it was great . Seeing how in UET getting a single piece of paper signed take 2 days the way the orientation was handled was quite a pleasant surprise . it was all smooth , organized , worked out , planned and swift . Even though it was carried out by Students it had a very professional approach.
So that was my first Day at SEECS. Em gonna be joining the classes soon (depends on my health) and will be posting more. Our First week is week of welcome starting with a gig by the Music Society NUST which i will most probably sadly miss coz i still need a lil more rest
Anyways Thanx for reading
