Finnaly .. A Real University

Just a lil noet
This was suppose to be a good post with some solid points but i have been busy and couldent post it earlier and now i have like 3 entries stacked up that i have to write so i am doing this one quickly . Its 3 am and my brain isent working at its full potential so please cope with the low quality

So its been 2 weeks since i joined SEECS NUST . I had spent a year in UET studying Mechanical Engineering before i got admission in SEECS NUST. Now when a person has been to 2 different institutions he unintentionally compares them . Due to me always comparing NUST with UET people in my class named me UET Promoter. But i cant help it , i jumped from a university i never wanted to go to , to the University of my Dream .
So one might think how were my first 2 weeks at NUST. Jumping from one of the oldest and most reputed Pakistan University to The Highest Ranked newly developed Institute
Well when i entered into NUST and walked up the stairs as i made my way to SEECS i had this feeling in pit of my stomach , happiness , joy , excitement .. Darn it i was excited bout going to School for the first time in my life . As i entered SEECS i knew i was at the right place. The main entry door leads u to the lobby , that is full of comfy black couches and a good 40 inch (i think ) LCD to welcome you . As i walked into the Hall way leading to my class i had a cold whiff of air hit me as the air conditioner was doing its job well . Spending a year in UET where fans were the best we cud get it was a great feeling to be standing in a cold corridor. So i looked for my class and entered . It was a large class , had rows of desks along with chairs , a small stage for the teacher to stand on with a rostrum and a wide white board. So thats like the usual stuff you find in any institute . What Differentiated NUST from UET was that our class had its own projector , so did every other class . In UET we had to get projector from the English department if we ever needed it which was a pain in the ass, more over the seats actually had foam on em , no more hard wooden chairs that wud make our butts numb.
So these were materialistic differences , of course NUST has a better infrastructure and furniture since they demand a higher fee, But what really set NUST apart is the whole feel , FOR THE FIRST TIME I FELT I WAS IN A UNIVERSITY I cant describe it , The over all feel, the vast campus , the impressive buildings , the amazing structure it all just adds up to give u that amazing feel

On my Very First day i was Lucky enough to have a 1 hour Lecture form Mr Majid Maqbool who is teaching us Fundamental of ICT. And i was blown away , At that time i was sure NUST is the place i have always wanted to be at . Because for the first time i was attending a proper informative lecture. Not the usual class a teacher takes where he comes and delivers a halfhearted lecture from a book and goes away. This was an actual intellectual lecture , where he would make us feel part of the class and we weren't their just to take notes for a future exam but actually to learn something. It was a 1 hour lecture that flew away in what seemed like a matter of minutes.
We were being taught with slides on projector , Only our Calculus Professor wrote on the board , And since the slides were available to us online we didnt have to take any notes hence we could focus all our attention on what the teacher had to say.
As Days passed my love for this great institute grew. We were being taught at a conceptual level , in non of the classes were we following any books , We are being taught the basics of each subject . Teachers paying extra emphasis on procedure of solving a problem and not on particular examples or questions.
Beside the studies there were plenty of other little things that made the experience so great. Different Clubs and Societies of NUST had arranged stalls to get new members registered. To Attract freshmen they used different tactics, Some brought in an Xbox 360 with kinect and hooked it up with the LCD for students to play at small price ( like 30 cents) . Others had stalls of pizza and Other food items and the earning they made went to charity (NUST Community Service Club) while some were selling their societies T Shirts.

Over all i would say its been a great experience so far , From Beautiful Campus to an excellent Teaching Staff. The Societies and Other fun Activities to sports Try Out . Everything just makes you feel like your actually in a proper International Standard University. This is Just the Begging of my Journey at NUST . I hope the 4 years i spend here are as awsome as the first 2 weeks .
