It’s funny how a year ago I set up this blog to share my University Life. But soon I realized that my English pretty much sucks, I am not funny and no one read my blogs :P . But today almost after a year from my Last entry I was on the other side of the desk. Last entry was about my Orientation Day and first week and now I write after I just helped organize the Orientation Day for the 2012 batch of SEECS. Something funny happened today. During the tour around the campus we had arranged for the freshman badge, I mentioned how the administration of NUST was much more co-operative as compared to the Administration of UET Lahore. A Freshie over heard me and came over to ask was I the one who wrote the blogs NUST GEEK and UET GEEK . I was pretty much dumbstruck , could it be , could I actually have a guanine reader (all my order readers are my friend whom I forced to read my blogs :P). Well anyways knowing somewhere out there someone actually reads my blog I had to write a new entry. So this entry is basically about how I spent my past year.
Throughout my School life I participated in every extracurricular activity I could , Skits , speeches , dramas , science exhibition But during my 2 year stay at Fauji Foundation College and a year at UET Lahore I didn’t get much opportunities to take part in such events. When I joined SEECS I decide I would try to avail every opportunity I got. I entered SEECS pretty much as a nobody. Over the year I have done a lot. Started off by being part of The Organizing team For the National Workshop on research conducted by NUST Science Society. Then I was part of the Organizing Team for Open Day. After that I again help organize the National Symposium Conducted by NUST Science Society. I got selected in a foreign exchange program to study a semester at Arkansas University in USA (did not go since I had to bear my own living expenses which after discussion with a few people I realized is not worth it since the university isn’t all that good and I am better off studying at NUST instead of spending around 1 lakh Rupees per month on accommodation and other items) and finally at the end of my second Semester I was one of the lead Organizers of SEECS Open House that displayed over 150 projects, had over 200 guests and 300 students. Getting so much exposure in just my first year helped me learn a lot. Secondly I learned that Here in NUST if you work hard you will get rewarded for it. I joined SEECS just as a regular Student and joined NUST Science Society as a regular Member. After a year of being part of different events I was able to be selected as the Sophomore Batch President in SEECS and was appointed the new Media Manager for NUST Science Society. Now most of you will be cussing me thinking I am a self-centered Jerk who is busy gloating about what I have achieved over the year , and maybe I am coz my sis always told me I was an over conceited jerk , but the main point I wanted to share is that what I learned is that NUST offers you a lot of opportunities. It all depends on you , Either you can sit around all day doing nothing or spending all your time in the Library studying , or you can avail these opportunities because trust me these activities are what makes University life worth it .
So well this was just a small entry about what I have been up to over the past year. I will try and keep updating the blog , hope I get a nice positive response this time around.
If you read this please leave a comment so I can know if anyone is reading the garbage I put up on blogspot and share it on facebook aswell
